5.7:     Networking

Introduction

A computer network is simply defined as “A connection of two or more computers so that they can share resources.” Resources are in the form of hardware (ie. printers), software, data, Internet connection, etc. Setting up a home network is a fairly straightforward task. But it is a good idea to arm yourself with a little knowledge to make things easier, as well as safer (from a security point of view). See Links and Guides below for background information.

Overview

The discussion of networking breaks up into four areas:
